This blog is dedicated to my best friend (lets call her G). She is getting engaged soon and asked me for gift ideas (for her future fiance). The first thing that crossed my mind was a watch (because I have bought quite a few for the man in my life and I know he likes them!). At first she was okay with the suggestion, but yesterday she asked me for more options. And I was in a fix.
Only I know how much trouble I go through to figure out what to buy for my husband, thrice a year, (Valentine's day, Anniversary & his B'day). It's tough you know, to buy a guy a gift. It's so much easier with us girls, you buy a cute top, shoes, some trinkets, cosmetics...there are so many damn options!!!
G said she was thinking of buying cuff links & a tie and I was like I have seen guys here going to office in shorts and flip-flops...what if her fiance turned out to be one of them? Then she kind of gave up on the idea and moved on to books/music etc...
Well, to relieve my dilemma, I asked my husband to give a few suggestions..and guess what..the first thing said was to get a watch...Then he said wallet, shirt, suit (which were all rejected on the spot). Then we both racked our brains for a while but couldn't think of anything nice. I even suggested that my friend should get a cute photo frame, put one of her snaps in it and give it to him..to look at till their wedding..isn't that a cute suggestion???(I think it is)..
At the end of it all, I am still in a dilemma, why is it always so difficult to find the perfect gift for a guy?

That's definitely a hard one, I did like the watch idea it's not that personal for the kind of gift she's going for...she should look at his hobbies, what does he like to do...for example if he's into photography than she should get him a nice camera...etc.
ReplyDeleteThat is a good suggestion...but she is just getting to know him..so I don't think cameras and other gadgets are a good idea now..those can come after marriage :-)
ReplyDeleteI agree its very difficult to find presents for guys! I also think that most guys love watches, so that would a good present. Also, when I don't have a clue about what to give someone...I give them a fragrance set!
ReplyDeleteWhen would women start thinking out of the box???

Out of the box eh...well women like to keep it simple...and personally speaking..my finances are too low to afford a Xbox/speakers from Bose :-)
