The Three-Day Cleanse!

My husband and I sometimes get into these ‘eating healthy’ phases, where we try different diets. Never have we done anything as crazy as this Three-day Liquid Cleanse though. As the name suggests, the program required us to be on a liquids-only diet for three whole days (I know what you’re thinking; wine, beer and other spirits were not included).
Why did we undertake this daunting task? Simple reason: we won a gift card worth $199 and didn’t want to let it go! (We rarely win anything, so we had to make most of what we got).
Blame it on a Gemini’s procrastination and a Libran’s (read as my husband’s forgetfulness, it took us almost three months to get to the store. We soon realized that if it weren’t for the gift card, we would never have even stepped into this store on our own ;-).
It was almost closing time; we quickly learned about the benefits of cleansing, tasted a few juices, and chose our options. Finally, the girl at the register swiped the gift card and… it didn’t work! It simply refused to go through and after multiple failed attempts, we decided to come back later.
After a couple of phone calls and a string of emails, the card was renewed and my husband went back to pick up our Cleanse. He came home with 40 bottles of colorful liquids, all numbered and ready for us!
The Cleanse!
Honestly, the first day was hell! I had a nagging headache and all both of us wanted to do was bite into something, anything, everything!!! The second morning, however, was a whole new story. It is amazing how the body adapts to new situations; each bottle that went in seemed to fill us up and there were absolutely no hunger pangs and cravings. The headache had vanished too, making day two pretty smooth. On day three, we woke up feeling really fresh and were actually looking forward to the juices. Overall, it was a very en ‘lightening’ experience. Will we do it again? Maybe, if we win another gift card :-). Here’s what we had:
Breakfast

Enriched water for hydration
Mid-morning drink

Lunch

Mid afternoon

Evening

Dinner

Special addition
P.S. The first time I tasted the charcoal water, I thought it tasted gross but the second time around, it tasted much better and I could only taste the lemon!
