I attended my very first formal interview yesterday. It was for the post of Proofreader and I was soooooo tensed. I am not a trained Proofreader you know, as in I had no clue about the various symbols used and stuff. So I learned the basic symbols (luckily there were only 11) and went through the company's website to get a better idea of what they do. All this was done on Monday and I spent the whole of Tuesday getting more and more nervous.
At last it was Wednesday and I was wondering if I was actually prepared for the Interview. Well, I didn't have a choice right, I had to attend it. Anyway, I got dressed and headed to Mountain View. I got there on time, met my recruiter and waited for my turn.
I was soon called for the face-to-face with the hiring manager & another person from the QA dept. They had a questionnaire before them and took turns to ask me questions..like what my strengths & weaknesses are, what qualities I would bring to their team etc etc...(I think my answers were impressive)..Let's wait and see if I impressed them. After around 10 minutes of talking it was time for my written Assessment test. They handed me a bunch of papers and escorted me to a table where I could complete the test.
The written test was pretty cool, it had samples of invitation cards with errors in the text, missing text, designs that were incomplete and stuff like that. The last page had some sentences and words for me to correct..and that was it..I handed the test to my recruiter and headed to my car...my hands still shivering a bit from the nervousness.
I met up with my husband and we ate out...to relax my nerves :-)...(food always helps).
So this was my first interview in the US...will keep you posted on the results.
So exciting! I'm sure the interview was successful and hopefully you'll hear some good news soon!
