Luckily, once I got off the freeway things moved a little faster and I made it on time. We were introduced to the training team, and then we introduced ourselves. We were given an intro to the company and its products, and the QA team (that's the team I'll be part of). At 10.30, we had a 15 min break after which we continued with the process of getting acquainted with the QA process. 12-1 was lunch and then we were back again to learning. I had packed lunch from home so I sat in the car and ate, while many of the other trainees went out to near by restaurants.
Training commenced at 1.10 or so and went on till 3.30 (our second 15 min break) after which it was a long stretch till 6. I got into the car and started driving home..or should I say crawling...as the traffic was as bad as it was in the morning. I had to pick up my husband from work and eventually we got home by around 7.20. It was a very very long day....especially after having worked such flexible hours at my previous job.
Well, the same routine continued for the rest of the week. On Thursday eve I decided to try a different route and went off in the opposite direction. Luckily I realized my mistake soon enough and immediately took a u-turn and headed in the right direction.
From the second day onwards we were given sample orders to proof read and we were evaluated based on our work. My first evaluation was pretty bad and I was disappointed...but the last evaluation on Friday was good..so I'm relieved.
At the end of the week, I have learnt some cool new stuff, made new friends and learnt how to keep my cool in heavy traffic...I guess that's a very productive week, right???
PS - The best part of it all...I didn't cook a thing throughout the five days (except for lunch on Tuesday)...
Here's something that I did make the previous week...my favourite thing to keep warm on a cold eve...a bowl of soup...

So, it seems as if you enjoyed your first week at work. Good to know you made new friend, that always makes work more fun. You got lost while driving...Sona and I have rubbed off on you!
